Also, people use surreal, surrealist and surrealism in the most obnoxious way. It seems like an intelligent sounding placeholder for "weird shit that I don't understand." My roommate was trying to find a movie to watch with this one girl that came over and he picked up my copy of Belle De Jour. She asked what it was about and he just said, "it's cool, he is a surrealist."

I kind of wanted to press him on what that meant but it didn't seem appropriate. It just seems like an incredibly dismissive way to talk about something. I don't even like Buñuel all that much but there is still a lot more that you could, and probably should, say about his films then "oh, yeah, its surrealism!"

This is all foregrounded by how annoying I find it when people want to build up the illusion of being "artsy" or some shit. I get really visceral secondhand embarrassment from it. I mean, everyone just relax and we can listen to Led Zeppelin or something instead. It's fine.

If it was your father who fell asleep during the play, I'd say "cut him some slack." But a couple of kids in full flower of their youth? As far as I'm concerned, they can go to hell.

Every Wednesday our office gets free breakfast and on Friday we get free lunch. As our annual charity event the people that organize this shit thought we should donate one or both to the USO and sent out an email with voting buttons.

The options were Both, Breakfast, Lunch or No. I selected No because I look forward to that stuff but it wasn't anonymous so now she is telling people. What the fuck.

i had a cab driver drop me off at the whole foods in lincoln park/old town last tuesday. it's across the street from the VIP strip club. cab driver lamented that he hasn't dropped anyone off at VIPs in "like 5 years, because everyone has the internet now."

Well perhaps that guy gave off a generally irksome vibe that made that comment really gross in context. But I think that comment is fucking hilarious.

i agree, i mostly posted as a response to the pornhub comment. he was a good solid cab driver.

My grandmother who makes pizza from scratch and spent the first forty years of her life in Italy often cuts her pizza with scissors. I mean, if it is the closest slicing device in arms reach or whatever. Doesn't bother her none!

To respond to the topic title though, I'd say most people I know.

I find that people that know me sometimes do weirdly passive aggressive and manipulative shit to make me upset or coerce me into doing shit that I don't want to do with them. I think it pisses them off a lot that I don't respond to it at all because I'm not a fucking child and I don't conceive of my life as if I was on a constant casting call for the television-drama Skins.
