I spent all day listening to Dick's Pick's 4. I have no clue if that was a smart starting point to try and understand The Grateful Dead but I will never get those 3 hours of my life back.

Spent a large part of my Sunday watching / listening to the Shallow Rewards videos on YouTube by Chris Ott.

Dude makes some really interesting points and there is no denying his knowledge of music history but sometimes his anger towards Pitchfork and internet kids spirals out of control.

I just watched his video on Basinski's Disintegration Loops. I didn't really follow the opening ravings but he made some compelling points at the end.

Probably going to listen to this album now. Also, what the fuck does it mean to be a music critic? Do those still actually exist? I feel like I was way more into music like three years ago and it always felt like every week I would find something new to get super excited about. These past two years though my music listening has devolved into really esoteric bullshit that I already know I will enjoy and I never actually challenge myself in any real way.

I wish Avec/Coyote's ambient nook became a thing again and that Bruegel/Vurt/others really brought the goods for the many times in my life that I feel like the lonely guy on the dance floor.

Honestly though I'd love to see more niche threads like the footwork one that Undo created recently. I know that this is perhaps overly ambitious considering that there are maybe only 30 active boarders on YSG but whatever. I know that we are all capable of bringing some serious recommendations to the table because 75% of what I listen to has come directly from SOMB/Members-Only Ninja Turtles Fan Forum/YSG.

Loved all of these. It's a pity that the one about goths wasn't authorised by Youtube and is currently not available, it was up there with the best,

Was remodeling the house with the iPod on shuffle and some really cool song came on that I didn't recognize. Turns out it was Scopdom Scop, Sid Hartha's old band. :cool!
Hopefully he's posted a word or two on this board. Solid bro of an elder statesman if ever there was one.
