Yesterday the number of new cases showed a slight decline in Italy. Hopefully we see that trend continue, which would mean at least the measures imposed (when actually followed by the population at large) work.

I was feeling okay yesterday but I am back to feeling a sense of pure dread as I watch the number of cases continue to increase exponentially here in the United States. This is really fucked up.

Second consecutive days with a drop in the number of new cases and deaths in Italy. Yesterday the national government imposed new restrictions on non-essential businesses. Obviously the economic fallout from this is going to be pretty stark but that is something we will collectively and democratically worry about in the aftermath. These motherfucking psychopaths in the United States like Andrew Cuomo who are literally suggesting that young people need to get back to work after a couple of weeks because the economic engine of New York City cannot stop need to fucking drop dead.

I don’t think there is much a risk packing trains and buses again on our way to open concept offices where we sit in rows inches away from our co-workers.

He has done this before though. I think he was only posting here regularly in the first half of 2019 because he had was out of work and living at home with an abundance of free time. Hopefully the fact that he hasn't been active on here means he found something else to occupy his time. I am sure he is flourishing.

I always thought he was active on other social media platforms and people followed his accounts or whatever on there. I wouldn't know about any of that though.

Feels to me like we are at a point where Trump will say the virus is defeated go back to work & most of the country will be like “We aren’t sure about that but Ok. We want our jobs and to go back to the old ways”.

Or he tells us to go back & there is a massive, nationwide strike with people refusing to help save a bunch of CEO’s salaries.

Nothing in between though.

Feeling pretty weird this morning. My sleep has been very irregular for the last couple of days and I took some NyQuil last night so maybe the drowsiness from that is still with me. No cough or temperature at all, but my sense of taste feels extremely blunted today and lots of people have reported that in the early stages of their infection symptoms. I realize I might be imagining things, it's very hard to tell right now.

Yeah, that might just be psychosomatic and is probably unrelated. Regardless, try to get as much rest as possible. It isn't like we really have much else to do at the moment..

Haven't watched any of those John Oliver videos, I'll start with the first one when I have time this week, which I suddenly have a lot more of as my April schedule for work was cut down to one day per week as of this morning.

I am glad you are doing well, Undo. The quarantine and just the constant low level stress of this situation is starting to fuck with me a little bit... Apparently the CDC is going to release some models of how they think this virus will spread throughout the country and it will probably include mortality projections. We are going to be talking about magnitudes in the hundreds of thousands.

Shortly after posting that this morning I gave up and went back to bed. Woke up at 7 pm and ate cereal for breakfast while watching Steel Dawn.

Ned, do you know people who are being deployed right now in these emergency Naval hospitals? There is one docked in the Hudson to assist in New York City. I am assuming something similar with take place in the Gulf and Lake Michigan to help alleviate supply shortages and hospital overcrowding in New Orleans and Chicago, respectively.
