Three second loops buried at the bottom of an ocean of static or maybe it will closer resemble some of the more abstract soundscapes of his Leyland Kirby work?

Re: 2016 Musical Recordings
He's given himself quite a lot of wiggle room as the first instalment is about as lucid as The Caretaker gets but I'm still intrigued to C what form the terminal degradation of the final emission takes...

This a great line about the latter stages of the project...

Re: 2016 Musical Recordings
I never knew too much about Against Me! aside from the transgender singer news from a few years back. I always assumed that they were some screamo bullshit because the pictures I'd seen they were all wearing black, and a few of them had beards and/or lots of tattoos. But jeez guys, I heard this song 4 the first time last night, and I haven't been able to get enough of it
A little further investigation hasn't inspired me to illegally download their entire discography. They're probably not quite my kind of thing, but if I'm still into this song when I find a new job, I will consider buying the new album.

Re: 2016 Musical Recordings
I might be full of shit here but I was never able to untangle that band from the bullshit of Fat Wreck Chords and I don't know if that's even possible. What does that even matter? That's a tough question to answer!
This song might even be all I ever heard from them and I don't think about it very often.

I've never been into Against Me! - felt like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater music. I know I've heard songs I've disliked, but that tune is fantastic like a Cheap Trick song.

The song everyone was going nuts about a few years back I wasn't so into. Should probably revisit.

I typically have one or two pop tracks that hook me big each year. This is 4 sure the one that hooked me most in 2016.

Have been playing Eluvium's "Posturing Through Metaphysical Collapse" often already, as part of an ambient playlist on Spotify. The new one is a bit hit or miss as the singing that appears regularly has a sharp tone that hits my ears the wrong way on these tinny headphones.
Don't have the files 4 it though, sorry brother

Nick Cave's "I Need U" might be the saddest song I've heard in a long time. Listening to it is kind of a devastating experience knowing the hardship he's gone through.

My 2 favorite musical moments of 2016 R the first time Bowie sings, "Something happened on the day he died". And Young Thug rapping "Pass the motherfucking lightaaaah".

I saw SURVIVE last week in a small, standing room only venue in SF. They were excellent, analog gravy.

This is a wrong-headed take. He feels like a smarter version and that's problematic 4 me. I'm with c-poots on the religious shit-I-don't-like. It's too purposeful. He has too much to say. I want something stupider.
I'll probably bang some tracks from this 4 the next month though.
i went to the Chance show in Portland and he killed it. i've been hearing the Coloring Book tracks incessantly at people's houses and parties throughout the year, but hadn't really been back to it since this initial take. since the show though it's been on loop. i'm finally able to wrap my head around the off-beat musicality, and really zero in on how much i like Chance's personality and energy. i also listened to a bunch of Acid Rap last night, which is still mostly fantastic and holds up extremely well.
and now i have a video of Chance singing "Same Drugs" with a puppet that i took from really far away, so i'm set.
great artist!

Re: 2016 Musical Recordings
I've been enjoying the hell out of this simple pop indie jam for a little while and supposedly its one of the best videos of the year, according to Conde Nast subsidiary Pitchfork Media dot com. There is nothing revolutionary in this tune but it makes me happy. The rest of the album doesn't give me the same enjoyment.

Re: 2016 Musical Recordings
Not sure what to make of the new Dawn Richard album. It has moments that equal what she pulled off on the previous 2 but overall doesn't hit me quite the same. It is clear she has a ton of ideas and wants to push her sound to some wild outside the mainstream place.
I sort of feel like Redemption is more a an unfinished work that could have been much stronger.

so where did everyone end up landing on Coloring Book in their "year end lists"? i don't listen to nearly as much new music as i did many years ago and don't catalog my listening well either, so i didn't make any lists this year (and haven't for a few years). but it definitely ended up being my favorite thing, front to back, i heard. seems like no one here was much interested in it at all.
