2020 musical recordings

I spent last night and this AM listening to Clem Snide's new album, Forever Just Beyond. Produced by one of the Avett Brothers, there's just enough of that radio-friendly Avett sparkle to match Eef Barzelay's (what I think have always been) really beautiful melodies and tender insights.

I don’t think I’ve listened to Clem Snide since Ghost of Fashion and didn’t realize they were still a band.

They weren't for awhile, apparently. I think I heard a thing or two since that were, y'know, fine. But this is really good.

The new album Cenizas from Nicholas Jaar is an experience. It’s the type of album that you put on when you’re at the plateau of a psychedelic trip. I know that probably sounds cliched, coming from me, but this time I’m serious! Fans of recent Onethrix Point Never output would probably enjoy as well. Just feels made for an experience to my ears.

Hot damn. New Fiona gets a 10 from p4k. I'm certain that doesn't mean what it used to, but it's still some kind of gauntlet thrown.

I love the Fiona Apple album. It’s the year 2020 and I’m listening to new Fiona and new Strokes a lot.

This album is really good

Danzig Sings Elvis is surprisingly good.

I've also heard and like the new ones from FACS, Alien Nosejob and the Howling Hex.  Slightly less so for Mint Mile, and I just don't think I'm ever going to get into Califone.

Also, the reissues of the two Rowland S. Howard solo albums are probably of interest to most of you guys.

An old friend that I haven't seen in person for thirty years but still "know" thanks to the internet shared her son's solo album (afaik, he was in a Tool cover band that also did orignals). It is absurdly good, friend / kid thing notwithstanding.

Thanks for this Clem Snide recommendation. I got around to it earlier this week and have been listening to it quite a bit.

This basically picks up where Recurring era Spacemen3 left off. It’s a beautiful and glowing record. Recommended for all who still come here.
