Really love the workaday Everyman dudes making real art and having it all payoff albeit on a weirdass timeline story behind this band and also really enjoy their albums. Super glad I'll be able to hear some new music from them in the near future.

Them boys at Coolatta Lounge CDs sure do know a thing or 2 about awesome packaging:
Arrived in the post yesterday.
Now playing, loudly as I sit in traffic on the way home and become less sane.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
lol
My copy contains an Airheads Xtreme wrapper.
Also, last Thursday I was in the room while that thing was being mixed at the last minute before its creator boarded a bus to Texas the next morning. Recorded some nasty jams on my iPhone that sound a lot like Naperville Ribfest. This other dude showed up to play with us and then he drove his mom's stick-shift car to the Burger King on Lawrence. Things got real heavy when the night took a turn towards "Dead & Bloated" live vids. So yeah, the Lounge is real.

That's the jewel for the new Marshall Staxxx release. Or one of them, anyway. I think that they're all unique.

Gonna be a long day at work ignoring people while I take this in. Half way through 1000 Deaths and I was all "Holy shit this really is a new D'Angelo album".

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
Other music - in addition to the typical figures - I think about while listening to this: Scott Walker, Minutemen, Deerhoof, Rage Against the Machine. There's a confidence in being ugly, sexless, and abrasive here - so far removed from the ripped abs and bedroom chimes of Voodoo, but obviously part of the lineage.

Bobbing my head to this on the train, getting looks. Not sure if they're like "This dude's a damn weirdo" or if they're "I bet he's got the new D'Angelo."

Did he send you guys his new CD single?zappo wrote:That's the jewel for the new Marshall Staxxx release. Or one of them, anyway. I think that they're all unique.
I recorded synth bass for these two songs. And on "Snake Eyes" I added some guitar, although that did end up getting heavily edited and mixed down. Good songs, IMO!

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
I got that, yeah. Sick. "Snake Eyes" is buck-ass nasty. I had been expecting a legit cassingle (possibly recorded over some old Mariah Carey tape, or something) and was kinda surprised to get a package of CDs. I finally got a copy of Carny the Gift, too.
