These Washington announcers are surprisingly unbiased.

Did it last night. Watched a good amount of the Ottawa game tonight. The commentators for Ottawa are awesome.
I missed the 3rd goal because I was tuned into the Montreal v Winnipeg game. A lot of great hits and scrums between those two. Rooting for the Canadiens in the East and Hawks in the West since I am hopefully going to end up in Montreal next year for college.

My connection was awful for most of the game.wp64 wrote:Did it last night. Watched a good amount of the Ottawa game tonight. The commentators for Ottawa are awesome.
The guy who sounds drunk is Denis Potvin, former captain of the Brooklyn Islanders Dynasty.

I particularly enjoyed their short-lived but hilarious Ray Lewis commentary. Also, the feed was sort of spotty for me. My dorm has been having a few issues with the Internet connection that they are trying to resolve so I just figured it was that. I only noticed it on quick camera pans, otherwise the picture was solid.reuben wrote:

Yeah, I applied. Haven't been admitted yet but I think I have a good chance. Are you an Ottawa native?

earnest question, how much does the announcer homerism bother you? now that i watch so many NBA games on league pass this is a big thing, but i'm not sure how i feel about it.
i'm pretty used to it, since the A's/Warriors never win anything i'm used to our announcers being somewhat sophisticated homers.
i think i find it more entertaining than annoying.

I'm a New York native, I've just been following this team for 21 years.
Good luck with McGill, Montreal seems like a fun city to go to college in.

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
Sorry Jasper I missed your question last night.
I expect a certain amount of homerism, so it doesn't usually bother me unless the hometown bias is excessive and accompanied by ignorance or laziness in understanding the rules of the game or the following the opposing team.
The Penguins announcers are by far the worst offenders I've heard, but I suspect this is purposeful and intended to cater to the average post-Crosby bandwagon fan.

Yeah, that place was rocking a bit after that power-play goal from Montreal. Great start to that period -- two fights, two goals, and an insane amount of energy. It seems stupid as hell for Neil to be getting an instigating penalty. The Ottawa announcers were arguing that Prust was baiting him into it by not dropping his gloves immediately but Neil didn't really give him an opportunity to.

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
I'm not surprised, Neil is an instigator. The idea is to rally the bench and get some momentum, but penalties do the opposite.
No penalty shot for Michalek is bullshit though.
