    Yes.

I've encountered Brockhampton somewhere and was irrationally irritated by their name but have no idea what they sound like.

Jeremih keeps doing songs where he sounds like he's in a relationship with the dude he's singing with and I have no problem with it.

I didn't post about it at the time, but it's hilarious to me to imagine YeahDuff bouncing to Meek Mill and Yo Gotti tracks.

I dislike Meek Mill because he's perpetual walking mediocrity with no personality. Jeremih is the best!! Yo Gotti is a veteran who makes good songs but doesn't excite me. Lil Baby is great sometimes!

I was kinda obsessed with this track:

    I fucking love Westside Gunn!!

RIYL: classic NY hip-hop with mad loops G, high-pitched rappers who sound like Ghostface

here's a song with a Ric Flair sample at the end that is about as Ghostface-y as it gets:

    These fucking idiots.

I take back any criticism of this concept and these young men.

This is a phenomenal set of records with some amazing songs!!

No idea how this worked out commercially but this is in fact very good. Swaecation sounded particularly lovely on our first nice spring day in Chicago.

It was my most played album of 2018, in about an intense one month burst. Now half the tracks seem foreign to me.

"Guatemala" was a favorite for awhile lol. I also really like "Heartbreak in Encino Hills".

I played out "Hurt to Look" and "Offshore" before the album came out. "Offshore" was jaw dropping to me for a minute, but doesn't hold up super well.

From the joint disc, "Up in My Cocina" and "42" still get occasional plays from me.

    Great stuff.

    Two faves.

I like "Guatemala" even though that's a ridiculous title.

Forget if I relayed this nothing story when it happened a few years ago but I was working out at the empty park district workout room, listening to WGCI, one of the local hip-hop/R&B stations, when a young black man came in and turned the radio off. I told him I was listening to it. He put it back on and I think Keshia Cole was singing and he was like, "You're listening to THIS?"

    "Yeah..."

He just shrugged, grabbed the TV remote, and turned on some golf match on mute.

Feel like Lil Baby is on everything right now and I'm OK with that. "Yes Indeed" was a fave of 2018, mostly because of him over Drake. Even that emo bullshit ain't bad though it seems... out of character.

That track is nice, Jasper, but melodic rap really isn't my thing in general. I'm still digging really hard into French hip-hop right now. Niska is great. I've been listening to his new album a lot when going out for runs. The best that I've found so far though is Youssoupha. His newest album is one of the best rap albums I've heard in a long ass time.

Does this count? I am loving this so much. This stuff must make conservative French people's head actually explode. Those weirdos have an actual academy that regulates the French language and puts out an official dictionary every year. Fuck em. It's all about having rhymes composed of three different languages like "fuck leur mamma mia."

In all seriousness, this stuff is a really interesting window into the dialectic of modern French identity and its colonial history. If the Le Pen's of the world are so offended by this stuff, they shouldn't have invaded their parents countries and made them learn French.

Also, people who are surprised by white people liking hip-hop are dumb. I used to get this all the time in college too. Hip-hop has been by far the most popular and influential art form for the last two decades in the United States, so yeah, of course I listen to it. The people who somehow live in a world without it are the weird ones. Three 6 Mafia won a fucking Oscar goddamnit!! Get with it.
