I don't know people who talk about A&E like that.

I could imagine the MCA presenting a screening of "Sopranos With All the Swear Words Edited Out", followed by a panel q&a.

Don't get me started on The Learning Channel. Of course they're all just following the lead of Music Television.undo wrote:I thought it was the Arts & Entertainment network.

never ending scifi/fantasy tv series viewing update:
i've finished ST:TNG episodes
moved on to TOS, in middle of s1
i've finished star wars: clone wars episodes. i really enjoyed this cartoon, s5 was the best one.
discovered that all legend of korra eps are streaming on the nick.com site. in the middle of s2 currently
in s2 of Doctor Who (first doctor, william hartnell), these are going slower as i have to watch them on dvd when i get them in the mail. perhaps in X number of years i will have finished watching all of the doctor who serials.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
Have been watching Lost since July and will probably finish the series before the end of October. Damn, have you guys heard about this show?
After that we'll probably watch Avatar and The Wire. Slowly catching up on 21st century television over here.

You know what's an awesome animated TV series? That new-ish Tron one. Can't remember what it's called, but I watched its meager half-season on netflix. Blows away the second Tron film.

Tron Legacy? I liked that movie. I had someone cover my court hearings and took a day off work to watch it in IMAX 3-D at Navy Pier.

Mark Frost and David Lynch both took to Twitter to tell us that the gum we like is going to come back in style. So we almost have to be getting more Twin Peaks, right?

I feel like they've already mined this for all it's worth and more, but I'm still intrigued.

Been wanting to do this for ages, but since just about all of my television is watched with my wife, it's been a tough sell. Got almost a season into TOS and it made her too sleepy so we gave up.
Modern family currently dominating in Casa Braden though, which is fun.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
there are a LOT of bad star trek episodes, some of the last TNG seasons were a slog with only minor highlights here & there. i got the gf to watch 1 ep of TNG, that was enough for her.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
The first pilot for TOS actually went over pretty well for us! That bizarro Star Trek universe seemed very interesting to me, but I was still happy to swap it out for the awesomeness of Captain Kirk.
Maybe if I find myself bored on a boat in the next year I'll do some individual exploration of this stuff.

Are any of you guys into Nathan for You?
Easily the funniest show of the last few years, I'm sending a strong recommendation to anyone who's listening.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
All the stuff about Nathan's romantic/sexual neuroses in the second series has really pushed it over the edge. Amazing how he manages to slip that stuff into a show with his format.

I suspected as much, and skipped the premiere to avoid getting hooked on a mediocre show, like I did with the Strain.Nick wrote:Gotham is not a good show.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
The thing that annoyed me about the original most was how it went off the rails when Lynch/Frost stopped being as involved with the creative direction of everything. Knowing that they're co-writing and Lynch is directing all the new episodes makes me cautiously optimistic.
